At times we would want to record internet streaming music and other content without losing quality. The services which allow us to listen to music online generally dont allow us to download the music, they only allow us to listen. Some services charge to download the music but listening online is free. If we want to record we should do it directly from the sound card when it is playing.
To do this
-
Go to volume control via contol panel or the system tray.If you couldn’t find it click start, then click on run and type ” sndvol32 ” and click on “OK” button.
-
In the volume control, click on options, then on properties.

-
click on adjust volume for “recording” , and click on “OK” button

-
Now finally select stereo mix

Now you can use any software to directly capture audio as it plays from the sound card. The windows sound recorder can also be used but it records only 60 seconds. To make it extend is a big mess and is not worth the effort. Instead you could do with audacity,a free sound recording tool which has many advanced features comparable to commercial softwares.
